As told by history, Palestinians traveling from Costa Rica brought with them the first coffee seeds to be planted in Honduras, during the early 1800’s. Commercial coffee production soon took off after the government incentivized farmers with a ‘ten-year period’ tax exemption. High-yielding varietals were popular at this time, for their large over-turn and ease of growth.

Today, we notice a shift in production practices which has taken hold in many regions of the country. Within the last decade there has been a significant increase in small-producers growing and tending to specialty grade coffees. This is largely due to relationships created with specialty roasters and importers who are incentivizing a ‘quality over quantity’ mindset with fair, and livable wages.

This La Paz regional lot was brought in through Bodhi Leaf Importers and is a blend of numerous micro-lot coffees from the surrounding area. They used cupping to select the best of the region’s coffees to give us this beautifully sweet, chocolatey and clean lot.
