The Uraga district of Guji has become one of Red Fox Coffee Merchants favorite Ethiopian regions to procure coffee from. It respectfully holds the highest growing point in Ethiopia at 2,300masl, additionally ranking one of the highest in the world. This results in extremely dense and explosively fragrant, fruit-forward coffees. The elevation leads to a late season ripening as the sugar content develops in the coffee cherries much slower. Many coffee roasters will have already stacked their shelves high, with early season Ethiopian coffees by the time Uraga coffees hit the market. Fortunately, we were able to hold out for this lot as they are just now hitting their peak flavor. Earning an admirable 89 cup score, we found this particular coffee from the Yabitu Koba washing station to showcase a beautifully complex balance of soft melon, strawberry and peach with a creamy finish ending in coca cola.
